Doula
May I accompany you on your journey?
When you have a doula by your side…
…you have the support of a woman who provides the information you need about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and who helps you feel safe, comfortable, and truly heard as you share your fears, insecurities, and your deepest wishes for the arrival of your baby.
…you know you have someone who protects and honours your wishes and needs.
…you have someone by your side throughout your birth journey: a steady presence to lean on, caring hands to offer comfort, massage, or practical support when you need it; a voice that reminds you of your strength, your power, and your ability to birth your baby; someone who truly listens, sees you, and holds space for you with love and respect.
…you have someone who not only supports and cares for you, but also your partner or birth companion, helping them feel confident and supported so they can become an essential part of the process and take an active role from a place of calm, trust, and confidence.
What does a doula do?
- She offers continuous physical, emotional, and psychological support throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and postpartum. And she does so from a place of equality, walking alongside you as an equal.
- She provides you with accurate, up-to-date information so you can make informed decisions from a place of confidence, not fear.
- When needed, she can suggest comfort measures for pregnancy and labour, such as positions, relaxation techniques, meditations, movement, singing, massage, and more.
- She supports and cares for the partner or birth companion, making sure they rest, eat, stay hydrated, and feel like an essential part of the process.
What doesn’t a doula do?
- She is not a healthcare professional, and therefore does not attend births without the presence of midwives or other qualified birth professionals. She does not perform clinical examinations, vaginal exams, or fetal monitoring.
- She honours and respects the decisions made by the woman and her partner or birth companion, without judgement or criticism, whatever their choices may be.
- She honours your unique birth experience, without allowing her own expectations, beliefs, values, or personal experiences to shape your journey.
- She does not take away the partner’s or birth companion’s role. Instead, she supports them in every way possible so they feel confident, comfortable, and empowered to take an active role throughout the process.

Together, we create a safe, intimate, and flexible space, shaped around your needs, where you can prepare, learn, and feel supported every step of the way.
1. Deep connection
In our first session, we take the time to get to know you, your partner or birth companion, and to hear how you’re feeling about this stage of your journey. We explore your wishes, fears, and what matters most to you for your birth and postpartum, creating a foundation of trust and connection from which I can support you.
2. Personalised guidance and clear information
In our following sessions, I’ll share evidence-based information about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, always tailored to your individual needs and circumstances. We’ll talk through any questions you may have and explore the different options available to you, so you can make informed choices that feel right for you.
Together, we’ll create your birth plan, taking the time to explore what matters most to you, your preferences, expectations, and needs, so you can approach your birth feeling confident and in tune with yourself.
3. Practical, emotional and physical preparation
I’ll support you in preparing for birth in a way that brings together your body, emotions, and practical needs. We’ll explore breathing and relaxation techniques, movement, and different positions for labour, while also making space for any fears, questions, or concerns you or your partner or birth companion may have.
The aim is for you to feel informed, connected, and confident in your body as you move through this journey.
